Synchronous CTE Classes offered through Southwest WA Rural CTE Cooperative/ESD112
Classes will be conducted Synchronously through Zoom with an instructor at ESD112. Synchronous learning is when students learn the same thing, at the same time, but may be in different places. The CTE Cooperative includes several rural schools where their students will also have access to these classes. Students are expected to engage in class, complete assignments, and meet with the instructor daily during their assigned class period. Space is limited to 10 CHS students and offerings are subject to teacher/class availability.
CTE100 - Careers in Education

In Careers in Education, students learn the knowledge, skills and practices required for careers in education. The course focuses on the general theory and practice of learning and teaching; the basic principles of educational psychology; the art of teaching; the planning and administration of educational activities; and the social foundations of education. In addition, standards and competencies from the Early Childhood, Education and Services and the Family and Community Services sections of the Family and Consumer Sciences National Standards are attained by students, preparing them for the beginning levels of a variety of human service careers as well as preparation for the Paraeducator exam.
CTE200 - AP Computer Science Principles

An introductory computer science course that requires no previous experience. You will be introduced to the foundational concepts of computer science and explore the impact computing and technology have on our society. The course covers a broad range of foundational topics, including: programming, algorithms, the internet, big data, digital privacy and security, and the societal impacts of computing. This course is part of a CTE Business & Marketing and Information Technology Pathway. This is a dual credit course, you will have the opportunity to earn up to five college credits. Students are encouraged to participate in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) or SkillsUSA, a student club and organization.
CTE220 - IT Computer Network Technician

A course that prepares individuals to analyze problems and search solutions; identify, test, and implement solutions; manage working relationships with customers; install, configure, and test new operating and application software and software upgrades; operate computer systems and run system applications; and monitor and analyze system performance. Includes instruction in troubleshooting; facilitation and customer service; hardware and software installation, configuration, and upgrades; and system operations, monitoring, and maintenance.

This Full Stack Web & Software Development course, a Pre-Apprenticeship Program provided by Computing for All, will provide students with the skills and knowledge to prepare them to complete industry certification exams offered by Microsoft as well as other companies. Students will create a portfolio, learn essential job skills, and receive mentorship opportunities. Students will learn programming with Python, web development with HTML & CSS, and an introduction to JavaScript.
CTE300 - Financial Algebra

Financial Algebra focuses on the application of mathematics and statistics to the finance industry, including the development, critique, and use of various financial models. The course includes instruction in probability theory; statistical analysis; and numerical, computation, and simulation methods. Students will learn about stochastic processes, economics, financial literacy, financial markets, and financial applications.

The Medical Assistant Pre-Apprenticeship Program prepares high school students to become Medical Assistant Apprentices. Pre-Apprenticeship programs are designed to prepare individuals to enter and succeed in a Registered Apprenticeship Program, such as InReach’s MA Apprenticeship Program. The course curriculum includes training on the MA scope of work and professionalism standards and allows students to earn up to 400 on-the-job training hours working and/or shadowing a local healthcare organization. Completion of the program provides opportunity for priority entry into the InReach’s MA Apprenticeship Program.
