THIS IS A REQUIRED FRESHMAN CLASS
In this course, students discover the skills they need to master the big three Microsoft Office programs --Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Even students who are unsure about computers will develop the know-how to be successful when writing personal, school, or career-related material. Students will also increase their speed and accuracy at the keyboard -- all in just 12 weeks!

In today’s computer-driven, global economy, students need the skills this class offers. Students will expand their knowledge of Microsoft Office in Excel and Access. They will also develop their career skills and the expertise to create correctly formatted and professional looking documents for other classes at Columbia High School, in college, and in their careers.

This course is the foundation of any business career. Whether students plan to work for themselves, in a small business setting, or for a large corporation, this course will prepare them for a future career in the business world. Accounting I will also help students better understand their own personal finances. College or career bound students will find this class valuable.

This advanced accounting course is designed primarily for students who desire to continue their knowledge of accounting and are perhaps thinking about accounting as a profession. Students begin with a review of Accounting I fundamentals and proceed to broaden and improve knowledge about business procedures and the use of accounting records. Students will learn a computer-automated accounting system.
Introduction to Marketing

This class introduces students to the commonalities among businesses, such as personnel management, finance, marketing, planning and resource management. Students will identify consumers’ needs and wants, assess the competitive environment, select customer targets and develop an appropriate marketing strategy with the goal of building and maintaining satisfying customer relationships. Students will develop skills related to interpersonal communication, self-presentation, economics, marketing, sales, employability, career discovery, and ethical decision-making.
