AGR151 - Metalworking I

Students in this hands-on course will learn to safely fabricate projects out of metal. Topics include power tool use, blueprint reading, welding, sheet metal fabrication, CNC plasma art and a variety of projects.

AGR251/AGR255 - Metalworking II / Metalworking III

Prerequisites - C or better in Metalworking

Advanced metalworking classes take a deep dive into computer aided drawing (CAD) using multiple softwares. Each student will complete a self-paced instructional module for Inkscape, V-Carve Pro and Sketchup. Each module will end in a virtual design assignment. Students will also explore other aspects of fabrication and design including 3-D, basic metal sculpting, design modeling and basic 110 volt wiring.

AGR161 - Horticulture

This course is designed to engage students in the various scientific fields which have a practical application in Horticulture.  Students will learn botany, soil science, propagation techniques, landscape design, integrated pest control methods and environmental conditions needed for maintaining plant health.  Students will participate in a variety of activities including labs, field work, scientific inquiry, debate, reading and writing.

This course is designed to teach and train students how to manage, care for, breed, and show small animals. It focuses on cats, dogs, rabbits, cavies, birds, and more. The pet and companion animal industry is a continually growing segment of our economy. There is an increasing need for employees with the skills and knowledge to work with small animals. *This CTE Dual Credit course corresponds to VET101- Introduction to Veterinary Technology at Yakima Valley CC.

NOTE: Students enrolled in this course are encouraged to join FFA.
This course will provide a basic introduction to the field of natural resources management. Natural resources include both renewable resources such as soil, forests, water, and wildlife, and nonrenewable resources such as oil, metals, and minerals. Current issues dealing with the conservation and management of wildlife will provide most of the examples for illustrating concepts that are generally applicable to the entire field.

AGR131 - Advanced Agriculture

Prerequisite: At least one prior AG class and is encouraged to join FFA. 
This course is designed to provide students with leadership opportunities such as public speaking, community service, and professional development. Students will complete job applications, create cover letters and resumes. It is expected that students participate in FFA. FFA members will focus on their Supervised Agricultural Experiences and FFA record book keeping.*This CTE Dual Credit course corresponds to AG101- Introduction to Agriculture at Yakima Valley CC.
